We have been investigating and developing “environmentally-benign” polymeric materials toward various environmental issues, such as the Global warming and Climate change. In the 20th Century called “Plastics Age”, wide variety of polymeric materials or plastics have been developed and have been of great benefit to us. Polymeric materials are now essential and requisite in our daily life. However, most of polymeric materials have been disposed of by incineration including the thermal recycling, which results in depletion of fossil resources, huge energy consumption, and CO2 mass emission as well as waste problem. We have tackled effective solutions for those serious environmental issues from an aspect of materials science and have been focusing on creation of degradable polymers with unusual characteristics and membrane separation for effective CO2 capture. Our mission is to accelerate the paradigm shift to hydrogen-based Carbon-Neutral Society. We also look forward to working with new graduate students (Department of Automotive Science, Graduate School of Integrated Frontier Sciences)!         2016.08.24NewsWaiting for graduate school students! 2016.04.21NewsThe paper about degradable polymers was published in "Science". 2016.04.20NewsUpdate the recent publications. 2016.04.19NewsOur HP is now open! backnumber Research topics Degradable polymers Degradable polymers with low-temperature formability Functionalization of degradable polymers Degradation mechanism of polymers Membrane separations CO2 separation membranes CO2 capture by electrodialysis Recent Publications Response to “A bacterium that degrades and assimilates polyethylene terephthalate”S.
