It compares selected versions of the required subject &＃34;English Course I.&＃34; Being a general language course, &＃34;English Course I &＃34; comprises reading and writing activities as well as speaking exercises and listening drills. This makes possible the sequencing of tasks, i.e., chaining of activities together to form a sequence. Task sequences can be designed according to the focus of a textbook. School textbooks for Japanese learners started focusing on communicative activities after the revision of the Course of Study in 1998.
