LIBRARIES The Main Library located in the Aoyama Campus was built in 1977 as the 100th anniversary of Aoyama Gakuin University. About 1.05 million books are held in the Library with the 3rd floor above ground and the 1st floor underground. The main bookshelf is an open rack type, and you can freely pick up the books. Mandai Memorial Library was established in April 2003 with the opening of Sagamihara campus. The library is located in the central building of the campus, Media Center Building B First Floor to Third Floor. The library takes on the responsibility for education and study support services with other divisions such as Languages and Information Study. Aoyama Gakuin University Library ACADEMIC WRITING CENTER The AWC offers guidance and consultation for reports and manuscripts written in English and Japanese. All AGU students are welcome—from undergraduates to doctoral students, as well as international students. We have tutors (graduate students) who speak foreign language(s) and Japanese. We hope to see many students visiting the AWC to improve their academic writing skills. ACADEMIC WRITING CENTER International Commons International Commons is a facility on 1F of Building 7 at Aoyama campus, which consists of a global lounge, event space, “Chat Room”(see the next section), and “Wellness Services,” which provides English counseling service. It is a place for international students and Japanese students to have exchange opportunities, with space for students to relax and study together. There are various board games available as a tool for international exchange, and various social and cultural events are held throughout the year. Chat Room AGU’s Chat Room is where you can meet people of all ages regardless of nationality and have an exchange in foreign languages. It’s a fun and stress free place to talk and make friends and you can also improve your language skills. Becoming a "Chat-Leader" is a great on-campus job where you have the opportunity to help students improve their skills in your language too. Chat Room Support Center for Students with Disabilities If students with disabilities need support for their classes, the center will support them so that they are able to go through their university life like any other students. Professional coordinators together with the students discuss the necessary support needed, and offer that support in conjunction with related departments and the college / graduate course the students belong to. Student Counseling Center Thinking about your future, studies, relationships can be stressful. You may find yourself lost while being in a new environment, and making decisions for your future. The Student Counseling Center is open for students at both campuses. You can consult the Center not only for your mental stresses, but for any troubles and worries you may have throughout your school life. All information shared through the meeting will be kept confidential. Health Administration Center The Health Administration Center provide emergency treatment and regular health checks for early diagnosis and prevention of illness. The staff can provide you with referrals to specialist medical institutions, issue health certificates and related documents, and offer advice and counseling for your health. Mental health consultants are also available. If you have any problem, just visit the clinics either in Aoyama campus or in Sagamihara campus. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT CENTER CIVIC ENGAGEMENT CENTER The AGU Civic Engagement Center is set at both Aoyama and Sagamihara Campus, and has various contributions from local to global programs. The Center has a personal coordinator who plans, manages and can provide advice for volunteer programs. Fitness Centers AGU Fitness centers is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of the AGU students. The centers host a variety of fitness classes from yoga to Boxercise. Resident staff can assist you to use a wide range of exercise machines. You can also consult with qualified dieticians. Fitness centers make sure that there is something for everyone. 《Special Feature》Realize Your Full Potential at the AGU Fitness Center Aoyama Gakuin Archive The Archive is home to an extensive collection of graduate certificates and photographs from the Meiji (1868 - 1912), Taisho (1912 - 1926) and Showa (1926 - 1989) eras, with historical records of Aoyama Gakuin from kindergarten through to university. It also has a number of fascinating historical artifacts on public display, including proclamations banning Christianity dating from the Edo (1603 - 1868) and Meiji periods; an organ brought into Japan by an American missionary; rare Christian textbooks used in Japan, and English-language publications and literature texts from the Meiji period. Student Dining Hall and Cafeteria For students, AGU’s dining halls are some of their favorite places to be, offering delicious but healthy meals at a low price. Every meal at the dining halls are prepared for the health conscious with careful calculation of calories and nutrients. Aoyama campus runs two dining halls while Sagamihara campus has one dining hall. Nana Café, a stylish book café on Aoyama campus, offers fair trade coffee and snacks including the famous AGU ice cream. Aoyama Gakuin Stores Here you can buy almost all the essentials for student life, from electrical appliances and laptops to text books and office supplies, at a student discount. The stores also offer a variety of AGU clothing, gifts and memorabilia. Services for student housing, concert and event tickets, applications for certification exams, and student travel are available here too. Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall (Gymnasium) The Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall at Aoyama campus is used for school ceremonies. It also serves as a gymnasium for regular physical education classes and for the training and competitions of athletics clubs. Its basement has a “Dojo”: a training space for Japanese martial arts clubs including Judo, Kendo, Karate, Lai, and Aikido. Clubs such as wrestling, boxing and fencing also practice in the basement. Sport Fields We have two off-campus sport fields. Both are close to the Sagamihara Campus. Sagamihara Field Midorigaoka Field Midorigaoka is three kilometers away from the Sagamihara Campus. The 46,087 square-meter area includes a rugby field, a soccer field, an American football field and tennis courts, as well as a maintenance garage for the AGU automobile club. The club house is equipped with a wide range of exercise machines and several meeting rooms. Machida Field Located in Machida city in Tokyo, Machida field is about forty minutes away from the Sagamihara campus. Covering 46,305 square meters, it is as large as Midorigaoka. It has a professional-size baseball field which can be transformed into a multi-purpose field together with tennis courts, stables and a riding ground; as well as a seminar house with a cafeteria and meeting room.
