It is also important to establish technologies for analyzing the information society and designing ways to improve it. In the Informatics section, research related to information, from perspectives ranging from hardware devices to social systems, is carried out. Specifically, it promotes research on the Internet, mobile devices, today&＃8217;s increasingly ubiquitous and complex telecommunications systems, technologies for distributing middleware that flexibly and efficiently controls network systems, imaging and sensing technologies that enable computers to recognize their environments, information and knowledge processing technologies that enable appropriate action to be taken based on environmental and other conditions, and sophisticated software design technologies for building large-scale software that can achieve these complex functions. This section strives to establish linkages with the humanities and social sciences. It promotes research on security technologies that can keep systems safe without violating the rights of individuals, on human communications technologies that take advantage of human characteristics, and on various types of social system technology that consider the relationship between information systems and human society, informed by perspectives of sociology and ethics.
